Dr Jörg Freyhof is a scientist at the Leibniz institute for Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries in Berlin. He has worked closely with IUCN as an assessor for red list species and is one of the special advisors to the IUCN Freshwater Fish Specialist group. Jorg is the co-author of the European Red List of Freshwater Fishes and the Handbook of European Freshwater Fishes. He has been studying, working and researching freshwater biota in a professional capacity for over twenty years; he is one of the foremost leading researchers specialising in Cypriniformes.
