Salih is Head of the Department of Science & Education and Director of the Institute of Environmental Sciences at the Near East University in Northern Cyprus. He gained his PHd in 2005 at the Department of Biology, Faculty of Science at Ege University where his dissertation involved the protection of rare and endemic plant species and was entitled, “Conservation biology of Asperula daphneola and Minuartia nifensis”. In January 2011 he became an Associate Professor and has been doing research on biodiversity especially plants, he is actively involved in raising public awareness about conservation and environmental issues in Cyprus.
