Dr. Michael Köck is the curator of freshwater, birds, and mammals at Haus des Meeres Aqua Terra Zoo in Vienna, Austria. He has been an instrumental figure in the reintroduction of the critically endangered Zoogoneticus tequila (Tequila Splitfin fish) back into the wild and has published several articles outlining the threats faced by endangered fish species in Mexico. He is a principal member of the Goodeid Working Group, a group dedicated to monitoring the captive reproduction and rearing of threatened freshwater fishes from the Goodeid family, and has established a successful breeding management system that is currently in place.
